Braun Series 7- 790cc Pulsonic Shaver

Braun Series 7- 790cc Pulsonic Shaver Review.

"probably the best foil shaver yet" 2007-07-20
By Thomas Pullen (USA)

so i bought one of these from amazon, very early adopter.

it is very similar in general to earlier clean and charge foil shavers from braun,

of which my last one was unceramoniously dumped in the garbage after a year for a rotary

from phillips, which was used for about another year and then dumped for the 4-blade gillette razor.

but now i'm back to trying electric for no particular reason other than it is tiresome buying

razor blade that have been specially engineered to need replacing after a week of use.

plus, while no matter what the manufacturers will tell you, there is no electric razor that

shaves as close as a blade, though sometimes the blade shaves a little too close...causing cuts, razor burn,

ingrown hairs, etc. it's enough to make a guy want to grow a beard.

enter the braun pulsonic. this is basically a very well-made, high end "activator" or "complete 360"

with the added feature that it vibrates. i suppose this is the same technology in the gillette "power" series

and other regular razors that use a AAA battery to vibrate as they shave...it does result in a ever-so-slightly

better shave. so this foil, which uses the nice almost-random pattern of differently-sized holes for diffent hairs (which was avail. only in germany for a long time, for some reason, then appeared in the u.s. with the braun 360) has a nice pivoting head, standard little pop-out trimmer, and vibrates like a sonicare toothbrush while you shave. the vibration is not really noticable over the regular noise and vibration present in a regular electric razor, but the results seem to speak for themselves. it seems to be a much gentler, more effective electric razor than i have used in a long time. the only thing is, it isn't a blade. after spending several passes with it over my cheek, for example, i can still run my hand against the growth and feel a little stubble there, which is never the case with the razor blade. on the other hand, i expect that over time there will be less shaving irritation, so it's not a bad trade off. the thing to note is that it's really made to be used with the little "charge and clean" cartridges, which according to braun last for 30 shaves, so each one lasts a month.

at $4 per cartridge, it's not too great an expense. word of warning though: if you take the razor out of the charger before it's finished the cleaning cycle (easy to do since much of it is silent, if you don't wait for the 'clean' light to come on) and sometimes even if you wait for it to be clean, and just start shaving, you may experience the unique and painful feeling of shaving with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the razor foil.

i recommend making sure it's quite dry before use, shake it a little or blow on th foil or something.

the clean and charge flud is a lemon-scented alcohol and lubricant solution that you don't want touching newly-shaven skin.

overall, it seems to be a good investment. the razor is well-made for sure, very solid, with a rubber grip handle on the back that is pretty comfortable to hold. it moves very easily over the face, even with 3-day stubble, and is noticably more comfortable than other electrics i've used. i think it will take about 2 weeks for the skin/hair to get used to it again, but...good-bye razor blades! hello pulsonic!

"Just Incredible!!! A Must Buy!" 2007-10-22
By Randy Dorfman (Miami, Fl)

Ok here we go for my first and probably only review on Amazon. I am 50 years old and have tried pretty much every electric shaver known to mankind. Each time giving up due to the pinching, non close shave and pain in the butt cleaning. In the end, I was going back to razor blades and the frequent cuts. I went to Braun's website and read about this shaver and came to Amazon to see the reviews here. I decided after reading the reviews to splurge on another electric shaver.

What a find! This in my humble opinion is the greatest invention EVER! It's the first electric razor I've used which doesn't get hot after a couple minutes of use.Hot razor means sweaty face which trips up razor and adds to pinching. Braun recommends you shave before you shower or wash your face, while you still have a little protective barrier of oil on your skin. A big no-no with regular shaving, this worked well with the Pulsonic. They also recommend you shave against the grain. Again, not recommended for regular shaving. For electric shaving, works great.

I must say I Absolutely LOVE shaving now.(I would let my beard grow for days because I HATED shaving with razors and cutting myself). The Pulsonic is the closest shave ever by an electric razor(IMHO shaves as close as a razor once you master it) and more importantly it does not pinch or burn at all. Even better is the self cleaning which make life easier.

My wife laughs every morning as she now sees me shaving daily with this god send! if you are reading bad reviews on this product it must be I just don't get it.

Bottom line: BUY THIS NOW! I just ordered another one for my son!

I am telling all who read this if you hate shaving GET THIS PRODUCT you will love it.

"Took a Chance and Won" 2007-08-17
By Gene A. Garrison (Thibodaux, LA United States)

I was skeptical reading all the promotional material for this new shaver. I'm 54 years old and have been using a razor all my life. About a year ago, the razor started irritating my skin so I was forced to begin using a Norelco rotary electric shaver that I kept under the counter. The results were far from satisfactory but at least it didn't cause a rash on my face. I figured that was just the nature of electric shavers and was convinced that I would be living with a scratchy, stubbly beard the rest of my life. Then I read a review on this new Pulsonic shaver in the August 2007 issue of Popular Mechanics magazine. It sparked my interest so I researched it more on the internet. I finally decided to take a chance and purchase the highly acclaimed but expensive shaver.

I've been using it now for one month and am convinced that it is not possible for an electric shaver to work better than this one. I't leaves the Norelco rotary in the dust. I would say it shaves about 97% as close as a regular lather & razor shave. It does not leave stubbles and it isn't necessary to shave more than once a day. Yes, it takes a small investment to purchase this shaver but it is a quality item that you can live with for life.

The self-cleaning charger/holder requires replacement cleaning fluid cartriges periodically. The information I read says that a cartrige is good for about a month. However, the razor head can also be cleaned by rinsing it under hot water...which is what I do for two days and then run it through the complete cleaning cycle every third day. After a month doing this the original cartrige still says "FULL". I have purchased three more cartriges for $16. I think those will last me for a very long time.

I have nothing bad to say about this shaver after having recovered from the shock of the initial purchase price. You get what you pay for and you will certainly pay for this one. I don't regret spending the money for this shaver at all.

 "Performs as Advertised" 2007-10-22
By M. A. Barker (WA, USA)

Although a bit steep in price, it performs as advertised. I have owned a 7000 series Braun and was getting fed up with the amount of times it took going over my chin, neck and area below the ear on the jawbone. This razor did an excellent job in a minimal amount of time with a close shave I haven't experienced in years. I highly recommend this shaver if you can handle the price.

 "Does an excellent job" 2007-10-12
By Alan Wolff (Santa Fe, NM United States)

In the case of this shaver, the hype really does match reality. The shaver is by far the best electric I've ever used, and it's very nicely engineered--from the ergonomics of the shaving unit to the self-cleaning/lubricating mechanism that comes with the shaver. It's a bit pricey, but you get your money's worth out of this one.

----------------------

After nearly two years of using this shaver I can update my original review (above) as follow:

(1) Have replaced the head once, which is right on schedule

(2) I stil love the shaves I get from this shaver.

(3) The trimmer works, but will no longer stay closed (cheap mechanism here).

(4) I'm surprised by the number of people who try to save cleaning fluid by only cleaning the head once in a while. The fact is that you can get as many cleanings as you want until evaporation requires a new cartridge. By not cleaning, you're not saving anything.

Still give it 5-stars.

RapidLash - Eye Lash and Brow Renewal Serum Review.

 "Works Great!" 2009-07-13
By L. Reed

I had tried another lash lengthener before this one. Although it did make my lashes longer, I also wanted them to be thicker. Rapid lash made them even longer, thicker and darker too. Rapid Lash was rated the top choice in Allure Magazine in an article they did on this type of product. I could not be any happier. I have not had any problems with eye irritation. I have noticed the skin where I apply the product along my lash line turning a little dark, but I wear eyeshadow everyday anyway so you can't tell. Even on the days I do not wear makeup it's barely visible.

"Skeptical, but now a thrilled believer!" 2009-08-25
By Deborah A. Brown (Kalamazoo, MI)

I was skeptical, but a bit desperate. Now in my 50's, I have been noticing a steady decline in the number, the thickness and the length of my eye lashes, both upper and lower. And I did not like it! I did not know such a thing existed until I saw it on an end cap at the grocery store. Pricey....hmmmm....but if it works....would be so worth it.

I apply it in the morning with my AM makeup routine making sure it is dry before I apply any another product on or near my lashes (eyeshadow, mascara, cover-up, etc.) I opted for the morning time, because a night task like that just did not work for me, even though the instructions say to do it at night.

It seems it took the 4 weeks before I started to see changes I could believe were happening. My lashes are now much longer and thicker and hold the curl much better. Its like Rogaine for the eyes!

I guess it is to be a life-long task for me, but the longer lashes sure do add a lot of life to the aging eye! Maybe the price will go down one day!

Oh, I have not noticed any darkening on the skin near the lashes. Occasionally I get some mild burning while it dries. I "think" I felt some weird eye aching in the first week, but that has gone away. I was not sure it was from the "medicine", but chose to live with it!

 "Amazing results!" 2009-12-11
By Donna B (Long Island, NY)

After reading all the reviews on this, I decided to give it a try as a cheaper alternative to Latisse. I have to admit, I was quite skeptical. It is really only a glorified conditioner, with no drugs in it like the prescription Latisse or even the expensive Lashes To Die For. My lashes had gotten so sparse and short over the years, even having minor bald spots in some areas. I would use the most revved-up mascaras I could find, only to have my lashes barely noticible, even after many coats! This is super easy to apply; just use it consistantly at bedtime for at least 4 weeks and you will be amazed. I now have people comment on my lashes- most say they thought I was wearing false eyelashes! (I do still wear mascara,as my lashes are on the lighter side, but it is only 1 coat.)

There are a few key things to remember when using RapedLash:

-You must use it every night in the beginning to see the best results. It takes only seconds to do.

-The results are much more apparent if you use an eyelash curler and/or mascara.

-The tube lasts much longer than it says. I'm on my second now, and the first lasted 4 months using it every day. (Long enough to see if it works on you).

-Most importantly- give it at least 4 weeks to see the results! Be patient!

Give this one a try- you will be amazed!

 "Rapidlash is AMAZING" 2009-03-06
By Francie (New York)

Rapidlash is totally amazing. I have been using it for 3 months. My eyelashes grow so fast. They now look so much longer and darker without mascara. With a little mascara, they look totally incredible. I would say on length, the product is really amazing. My lashes reach up to my eyebrows. On darkness and thickness, I can definitely see an improvement - they are noticably nice without any makeup. But the darkening and thickening is not as dramatic for me as the length. I have used it every day for 3 months, on both my upper and lower lashes. The box says one tube lasts 1-2 months, but I am still on my first tube after 3 months. I would recommend this product to anyone.

"Was surprised at how well it works" 2009-11-22
By V. Scott (Snohomish, WA United States)

I use this for brows only. I've always had thin brows but at 52 and with thyroid issues, I was walking around with little to no brows and having to use all sorts of products to try to "color them in." I tried another product that I bought from a high end department store that cost way too much money and after months produced no results. I was very, very skeptical about Rapid Lash, but after reading other reviews decided to give it a try. Within two weeks I was absolutely amazed. I actually had to pluck my eyebrows for the first time in about 30 years! Okay, not a big plucking job, but pluck nonetheless. I think I'm probably about a month into using the product and have lots of days when I don't use any brow pencils, powders, etc. I'm sold!!!

Philips Norelco 7310 Men's Shaving System Review.

 "Best Yet" 2009-07-07
By Richard L. Pohl (Omaha, NE)

I bought this razor to replace a 6 month old Architec. The architec was one of the poorest performing razors I have ever owned in over 40 years. So I bought this razor with very low expectations.

I was totally amazed by the 7310. It is so quiet the bathroom fan almost drowns it out, but the cut is AMAZING. I have had seven Norelco shavers so when I tried this unit, I couldn't believe it. I can shave in 30 seconds instead of the 7 minutes for the Architec. It is close, comfortable, no heavy pressing to get a close cut, and best of all is the price. The whole new shaver was cheaper than buying just the replacement head for the Architec. And the 7310 is EASY to clean. Flip the head, flush under running water for a few seconds, and let it dry. No static whisker cling like the Architec. I'd give it six stars if I could.

Thanks, Norelco

 "Excellent low cost shaver" 2009-04-27
By R. K. Lam (Fullerton, CA USA)

After having this for 6 months and it being my first electric shaver, I am thoroughly impressed by it. I use to be a manual razor using Mach 3's and Quattro's but after trying this, its pretty much all I use daily unless I need a really close shave.

It feels like quality despite the price! Very solid and sturdy.

 "Great Product!" 2009-06-30
By J. Vargas

I am actually a barber and i need to buy one of these a little more often than the average person that uses it for personal use. I only stay with the NORELCO brand tho. I like their products and they always last. This one from the gate gives a really smooth shave. I have been using it for 2 months straight, 5 days a week on people and the blades are still sharp. If it lasts me a year or two for my job, then it can last like up to 5 years for personal use. Definitely a good buy!

"Excellent Shaver, Great Price, Bit Ugly" 2009-11-29
By 21st Century Hermit (Colorado)

Pros:

Very close and comfortable shave

Excellent sideburn trimmer

Good battery life

Charge completed flashing LED's

Price is right if . . .

Cons:

No battery status indication, none expected

Tacky colors

I've been shaving for over forty years, mostly electric and mostly Norelco. For 3-months I had a Remington R450, see my review, huge dissapointment. Every couple of years Norelco tries to come up with a new gimmick to get us to purchase the latest and greatest. Thing is that Norelco got it right 30-years ago. The cutters and combs in the 7310 are the essence of that technology and if you can spin the cutters you'll have a close shave. All the other Whistles & Bells are just fluff.

Norelco claims 10 days of cordless shaving on a 8-hour charge. The charge full indicator started flashing at 2-hours, done. I went 9-days and wondered how much longer, on the tenth day the motor started slowing down and it quit halfway through the eleventh day. By stretching the battery after the first charge/discharge I was able to get 12-days, well actually 11.9-days, could have used another minute of shaving. I stretch a NiCd by running the battery dead with the cutters flipped open for the lowest motor load. Pretty impressive for a single AA NiCd battery.

People claim this is a good/great budget shaver. Nonsense, this is a excellent cordless shaver that can be had at a budget price. I got mine from the big W for thirty-one to my PO Box. It came in the full retail blister pack. By the time I got it to my house, 8500-feet, I thought it was going to explode. I saw at least two retailers have it for a bit less on Black Friday. Makes you wonder what the models that cost 4-5 times as much have to offer?

So why is it ugly? Well of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this old eye doesn't do black and white on a shaver, all black . . sure, all white . . probably not, all silver like my deceased 7865XL's . . YES!!! I still gave the 7310 5-stars, I don't see the colors while shaving. BTW, I do like the white power switch.

If you look at the photos I posted, you'll see that the 7310 consists of a small waterproof power module encased in four cosmetic shells. It's these shells that allow Norelco to play the silly color games at no additional cost. The sides even have rubber bonded to the shell. Turns out I shave with my thumb between the power switch and head and my fingers over the trimmer, so I don't even feel the "slip proof" rubber. Where are your fingers?

So if the feature set meets your needs, don't hesitate to get the 7310, it will deliver a comfortable close shave. As to the colors, only you can decide.

"Simple to Use and Shaves Great" 2009-09-03
By R. Kolin (Virginia Beach, VA USA)

I've been using this razor daily for about a month now. The first thing you will notice is how quiet it is, followed by the great shave it provides and finally how easy it is to clean up by just running it under hot water. While charging takes about 8 hours, it stays charged for a long, long time. Since the initial charge, I've only had to charge it twice. I was using a Braun Series 1 1-150 razor (see my review) and liked it. But I found that over time, it did not shave very well under my chin and on my neck, and it took a lot of time to fully do the job correctly. Not so with the Norelco! As with all electric razors, I recommend that you use a pre-electric shave lotion (I like Afta Pre-Shave) to make the shave easier and cause less razor burn.

Loving Naturals Organic SPF 30 Sunscreen Zinc Oxide 5 Oz. UVA/UVB Vegan Review.

 "Best Sunscreen Ever!" 2009-08-07
By Danan Healy

I love this sunscreen. It is not greasy, or smelly, or full of crap that no one needs all over the largest organ of their bodies (their skin). I love it especially for my 11 month old daughter. It works wonderfully and I can feel secure knowing that her skin is not absorbiing a bunch of chemicals.

I put Water Babies on her once and she broke out into a head to toe rash. I felt terrible. With this sunscreen that has never happend!

 "Excellent Product" 2010-05-29
By G. Kitterman (Houston, TX United States)

I was expecting something thicker like a lotion, but this is a thinner consistency. This is an advantage as it is easy to apply and absorbs well. I did not find it greasy, though it does contain a number of oils.

I am very fair and it leaves my skin looking a bit more pale, but I've found that adding just a tiny bit of my makeup foundation balances out the color. Frankly, I think it makes me look younger, as another reviewer pointed out.

I suffer from acne and rosacea, am on a topical medicine that makes me more sensitive to the sun and my skin is naturally sensitive. Unlike other products, this doesn't burn or sting and I am confident that my skin is protected. I've not had any breakouts or other problems.

The smell is yummy, a food/cookie type smell. It has a 'Born On' date only 10 days before I placed my order. I really liked that it was fresh and hadn't been sitting in a warehouse for months.

Excellent protection from the sun and unnecessary chemicals.

"The best sunscreen I have found!" 2009-07-08
By Melanie (Bridgeport, NY)

I tried this sunscreen by Loving Naturals and I love it!! I believe this is perfect for applying and lasts before having to reapply. I have found others to be too thick. I used on my infant and felt safe with the protection this sunscreen provided. Nice natural scent and not too thick or greasy. This is by far the best sunscreen I have found to use on my children.

"Much love for loving naturals!" 2009-06-28
By Sara J (Seattle WA)

I love this sun screen! I am very fair and my skin is sensitive and burns easily, but this left my skin feeling smooth and i didn't break out. The scent is nice and mild, and it last a long time without having to reapply, i couldn't ask for better sun protection.

"Loving Naturals SPF 30 Sunscreen Review" 2010-05-11
By Going Green

I love this product! I recently switched to all natural, toxic free cosmetics (and everything else!) and this sunscreen is a wonderful addition for sun protection. I used it for the first time in Florida when the temperatures were in the 90s each day (at a local theme park). My husband and I both applied it before leaving each morning and we returned each night (yes, only applied ONCE!) without any sunburns. My husband always burns too, so this product is amazing! It does leave your skin a little white/grayish but this fades as you rub it in more. It doesn't have much of a smell, so you don't walk smelling like a coconut all day! I would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in a natural, non toxic sunscreen. Just do a little research on the chemicals in commercial sunscreens...you won't be sorry you switched!

Braun Clean & Renew Refills (3 Pack) Review.

"Here's how to make a refill last six months" 2004-06-27
By R. Tock (Milwaukee, WI, USA)

I've owned a Braun Syncro for about a year and a half now. It's the closest shave I've ever had without cutting myself, and that includes the new triple blades. But those refills are pricey. Another Amazon review gave me a clue as to how to make each cartridge last six months. Here's how: Clean your razor once a week instead of every day. Between cleans, remove the cartridge from the cleaning machine and reseal the cartridge with the original plastic tab. No more evaporation problem. I've been very happy with the results.

 "Serve their purpose..." 2002-03-22
By RICHARD DIBONA (Boston, MA USA)

These refills do exactly what they are supposed to do, as you can read in the product description.

I have found no noticeable difference by cleaning my shaver every other use instead of every time. I have owned it for almost a year now. This is a good way to get twice the life out of the refills. They also seem to last longer than the 30 uses stated.

Also, these things are very easy to spill when installing. Be careful!

Finally, I'd recommend stocking up on them if you like the shaver because with products like these, you never know when the manufacturer will stop production thus rendering the shaver obsolete.

"This cleaning fluid is a must for the Activator shaver" 2006-07-21
By John D. Bernstein (San Jose, CA USA)

I bought a Braun Activator shaver because I was tired of nicks, cuts, and irritated skin. I had tried electric razors in the past but they never did a good job shaving and were always a pain to keep clean.

This cleaning fluid for the Activator shaver is a must! The self cleaning system makes it very quick and simple to keep the shaver clean and running good.

I typically run the cleaning step every other day, shaking out the shavings on the off days. This helps the cleaning fluid last a wee bit longer. The fluid lasts 2-3 months, with evaporation in the hot months shortening the life a little bit. The cleaning fluid leaves a slightly lubricating film on the shaver which helps it glide smoothly across the skin.

You can buy a 2-pack of refills in store at Target for $12, or you can get a 3-pack here at Amazon for the same price, plus no sales tax. The math is simple.

"Throw away the little brush" 2001-04-10
By Frank J. Konopka (Shamokin, PA)

There were two things I always disliked about electric shavers: they didn't cut close as a blade, and they required regular cleaning with that annoying little brush. The new Braun shaver, which I've reviewed also, is an excellent device, and the shave is quite comparable to a blade. This handy little item, of course, solves my other pet peeve, the claeaning part. Every morning when I finish shaving, I just put the shaver in the attachment, and it does its magic. No muss, no fuss, and no little brush! The next morning the shaver is ready for use again, and there's a pleasant lemony smell to it, which I like. As long as I can continue to get these refills (and they tend to be hard to find at times), I will continue to use this shaver, and continue to love it.

 "Works like it should." 2006-02-27
By Tim Martin (Wisconsin)

If you want to make the most of this product, do not clean your razor every day. It is not necessary. After you shave, shake the razor over the waste basket gently and it will remove some hairs. Then clean the razor every third day. I started useing my 8595 razor on Dec. 10th following this technique and I just ordered replacement cartridges.
