Tweezerman Men's Shaving Brush

|

Tweezerman Men's Shaving Brush Review. This high quality shaving brush is made of 100% badger hair, the preferred bristle for creating a rich lather. The densely filled brush head is ideal for holding and distributing lather. Helps soften and raise beard while gently exfoliating the skin in preparation for a close, comfortable shave....

"Best bang for buck shaving brush" 2008-03-02
By scfdefinit (San Diego, CA USA)

I've gotten this brush about a month ago and it has held up pretty well. At $15 it is the best value pure badger brush on the market. At first it's a little stiff. It loses a few bristles here and there but after a few uses it breaks in. I haven't lost a bristle in weeks and its gotten softer. Of course there are better best badger brushes and silvertip badger brushes on the market but be prepared to pay $40-200 USD for a quality badger brush. The Tweezerman makes a good starter brush at $15. Why even bother to buy a synthetic or boar brush (both don't hold water well) when you can get this one for $15? I plan to upgrade to a better/softer brush down the line but the Tweezerman is treating me well and in the future will make an excellent back up or travel brush. I recommend this brush for anyone who decides to start traditional wet shaving.

 "Great Product, Great Price" 2005-07-10
By Andrew Cox (Tallahassee, FL United States)

This shaving brush is perhaps the most inexpensive way to get a pure Badger bristle shaving brush. I've now been using it for a year and a half, and it has not shed any real amount of its bristles like the cheaper brushes on the market. The brush head remains densely packed and quite soft. Hopefully, it will remain that way for some time to come. In the meantime, I do enjoy the close and comfortable shaves that are aided by this brush. Because of it, I have sworn off of canned shave gels for every situation except travel. They just can't compare to your average $1.50 cake of shaving soap and this brush. This was a very worthwhile purchase for me.

"Didn't think badger bristles would make a difference" 2007-06-07
By C. W. Simpson (North Carolina)

But they really do. I had a boar's hair brush before this, and the badger bristles really are far superior. It takes a lot less soap to make a good lather with the badger. If you're a brush user, definitely give it a try.

 "The Thing with Shaving" 2008-11-27
By avoice (Los Angeles)

I bought a Tweezerman shaving brush to replace a boar bristle brush I lost--yes lost. The Tweezerman does a better job because it's more comfortable and because it lathers up faster and thicker. That said, the differences are minor in respect to the final shave. Both do a good job and the job they both do good is keeping your skin wet while you shave. The badger bristles have a slight edge in this. You'd think keeping skin wet would be easy, but it's not. What lubricates a blade more than anything is the water itself and not what's in the soap. The second you splash water on your skin it immediately begins to evaporate, so by the time you get your razor to your face most of it has evaporated. The soap foam keeps the water at your skin--that's its job here. The best shave doesn't need any soap at all. Shave under a shower with no soap and you'll see what I mean. Try it as a test. You'll get the closest shave that way. Do this only if you have memorized where everything is on your face. Shaving foam does as good a job as a wet brush in my opinion and so I use it more often than not. My final view is that the Tweezerman brush is a great deal and works well. I can see no reason to buy a more expensive brush--some sell for more than a hundred plus some dollars. Whatever they add to the mix for this price is probably not worth it. If you want to impress people with your shaving acumen, learn to use a straight razor--not for wusses or the faint of heart, though. I have been using the brush for several months and have not had any of the quality issues like shedding bristles that others here have reported, so this experience seems to vary. There could be some quality control problems at play. I do make it a point to hang the brush upside-down to dry, though. Drying it bristle side up might allow water to pool so that the glue holding the bristles is weakened.

I too am very pleased with this brush. My previous brush had a ceramic handle that cracked. This wood handle seems built to last. The badger bristles are excellent. I paid $10...unusually low price for a quality shave brush.

 "Sturdy, Quality trimmer" 2007-10-30
By Mark Feinberg (NYC)

I have now used the clippers a couple of times and can say that they are a great product. It was very sturdy in my hand and felt like a professional quality trimmer. There was no jamming or binding of the clippers - it glided through my hair with no problems (although I do have fairly thin hair, hence I cut it very short). I only used the trimmer and not any of the attachments - I cut my hair very short using the blade only and no length guide - so I can't comment on those. However, I must agree with other posters that the case could use some work - all of the pieces pretty much fly around loose in the case and there really isn't a good way to store everthing. Wahl should have designed the case differently, so that there would be a place to put each accessory (kind of like how a CD binder works). Again, this doesn't affect me much since I don't use the attachments. I highly recommend these clippers and would recommend to a friend in the market for doing their own trimming at home.

July 2008 Update: Still using these clippers every week to keep the close cropped look and they work great. Just brush them off and oil the blades with the included brush and oil after each use and put them back in the drawer. I'm able to get the whole head in about 5-10 minutes. I just clip in the shower stall before I shower, scoop up the cut hair and wash the rest down the drain. And the included mini-clipper is great for getting a very close cut on the back of the neck and sideburns. It isn't meant for much more than that, but does a great job - I use it about 1-2x a month and haven't had to change the battery yet (8 months later).

 "Excellent! Very Complete Set" 2007-11-13
By B. Lau

I began cutting my hair about a year ago and was using my old oster from costco that was maybe 5-7 years old. I had a lot of broken guards and the blades were starting to make a lot of noise. I did some research and found these to be a decent set for the price. It has so many guards and the clipper itself cuts really solidly. I like the extra trimmer to cut the sideburns. I cut my hair every 2 or 3 weeks now and have no worries that it isnt cutting evenly. If it does cut unevenly its my fault! Overall im very satisfied and would buy it again. Amazon was even cheaper than walmart for me when i check the prices. Go do some shopping.

"Just like the pros... I think..." 2007-05-02
By S. Rogan (Brooklyn, NY United States)

I have been through three of the 'rechargeable' trimmer/clippers over the last few years. They work well in the beginning, but the power, which leaves you wanting to begin with, fades over time with cycling of the battery and eventually they die. As expensive as the good ones are ($40-$90), it is cost prohibitive to repair them, so they get chucked into the trash and a new one is purchased. I was tired of throwing my money away and for years I have admired the heavy duty looking trimmers I have always (and I mean forever) seen used by hair professionals. They look like they are indestructible. I also equated the quality with cost and assumed that as a tool of a trade they would demand a steep fee to acquire one.

Well whaddaya know? The Wahl is a very similar version and it is half the price of the rechargeables... it works better, smoother and with less effort.... comes with a veritable toolchest of attachments including some combs, a scissors and would you believe it even has a bib wrap to cover the shoulders of a client! Heavy? yup... and it feels like it will last forever. Vibration? Absolutely, just like the ones my barber uses.

Want something that will do the job... every time? This item is a winner!

 "Great Wahl of China" 2007-12-09
By Stephen Davis (Texas)

(This first paragraph was added on 12-30-2008) As an opening note - the clippers are actually made right here in the USA and not China. Sure there are a few Chinese parts in the kit but by and large it's American! I could change the title to, "Great Wahl of Sterling, Illinois" but that doesn't exactly roll off of the tongue - y'know? Now on to the original review in its entirety and totally commercial free:

For the past several months I have been contemplating taking matters into my own hands and just shaving my noggin at home and saving a trip to the barber/salon/blood letter. After consulting with friends and colleagues and with my own experience with the brand I settled on a Wahl trimmer. Once my decision was made I guided myself to Amazon to start the search. After looking at the different kits and options I settled on the Deluxe Chrome kit with 27 pieces. I don't know about you but when I see the words 'Deluxe' and 'Chrome' in the same sentence you have my undivided attention.

I ordered-up the kit and thanks to some technical wizardry and a dash of PRIME the clippers arrived in 2-days. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened up the box to find a nice black zippered case complete with the clippers, the smaller clippers (for neckline, sideburns, etc.), a plethora of guards ranging from the cue-ball to 1" in length, over-the-ear trimmer guides (left and right), an eyebrow guide as well as combs, scissors, a hand-held mirror, a drape and clip, clipper blade oil and a brush for keeping the unit clean and in tip-top shape.

So I decided on an appropriate guard and clipped it onto the clippers. There is a good snug fit which is met with an audible 'click' assuring you that the clipper guard is properly set. I then stretched out the amply long cord (maybe 6 feet long??) and plugged in the clippers. I clicked on the unit fully expecting something quite loud. Happily I was wrong. These clippers are extremely quiet and very stable and steady in your hands.

Now the real fun. I started buzzing into my hair like a crazed minnow farmer (?) watching my trimmed locks falling into the tub.

NOTE: I did this while seated in our large garden tub... there was NO WATER in the tub but I thought this would be a good place for a haircut as the clean-up would be a snap.

So I worked the clippers through my hair going from back to front; front to back; then side to side until the desired effect was achieved. My Bride and our two angelic cherubs soon made an appearance to see just what Daddy was doing. Happily my wife totally approved of the look, the cut and the cleanliness of the finished product. My Bride took the smaller clippers, plopped-in an AA battery and did a bang-up job cleaning up my neck area as well as around my ears.

Clean-up was a snap. I just took off the guard, used the included brush and cleaned off all of the trimmer heads. After cleaning-up I packed everything away in the black case and was readying myself to hop out of the tub. My Bride had brought in our Dyson (sidebar: if you've never used a Dyson vacuum you are missing out on one of the finer pleasures on earth) which made quick work of sucking up my hair out of the tub. Our girls enjoyed watching Daddy's hair swirling in the clear Dyson canister. They are easily amused.

Bottom line - the Wahl trimmer/clipper is a great tool, quiet and efficient and priced better than I could find locally.

Oh - and by the time I cut my hair with this twice - it's paid for!

(Edited on 12-30-2008 to add:) I have owned these clippers for approximately 388 days (or for you stats geeks out there):

* 33,523,200 seconds

* 558,720 minutes

* 9312 hours

* 55 weeks (rounded down)

and it's been nothing but a great experience. If I were to hazard a guess I have used them 9 or 10 times so they are WELL paid for. The unit operates as it did fresh out of the box, the cut is still great and nothing has been pitched aside or thrown away... except for my cut off hair, of course. I've not used all of the guards but have settled on a few 'go to guards' that made the cut with me (pun).

All in all I still stand by my original assessment of the clippers and would buy them again knowing what I now know. Great item. Great investment. Great ROI (Return On Investment).

Great for the price, and the little battery operated trimmer is fantastic. I am a licensed cosmetologist who cuts childrens hair, and the size and versitility of the small trimmers are worth it's weight in gold.

This product does exactly what it is supposed to do...and after several direct hits to the replacement casette I've noticed it is also quite durable!!! I am not sure that I am glad to replace these every 6 months but my facial hair grows in thick so there's not much I can complain about it.

"Really good product for young guys with hair loss" 2009-10-04
By Nick Cooper (Toronto)

I have to admit I am quite impressed with Revita's shampoo. As a 23yr old with hairloss it can be really difficult to cope with, that's the only reason I'm writing this because I understand anyone in my same position is out there looking for any help possible. So here ya go,

My honest opinion is that this stuff does work and does help with reducing hair fall and combating thinning hairs. It wont stop hair loss but it will help to thicken hairs and speed up your hair growth cycle (again, my opinion). I started using the stuff over a year and a half ago, I liked it and continued to use it for a year. I then stopped because I wanted to try other products..it seemed I was maintaining what I had and wanted to see if I could stop hair loss altogether. It was probably the biggest mistake I could have made. After about 3 months I lost tons of frontal hair and all the returning hair was much thinner and brittle. After realizing it was stopping the use of Revita that made everything go south, I ordered online immediately and started using it again. I've been using it for just over 2 months and I have to say my hair is slowly improving again, all that thinned out hair is slowly returning back to health. I'll probably use this product for the rest of my life, I've come to accept that and am happy to know there is something out there that is actually working for me. I wish you all the best of luck, as difficult as it is try not to stress this too much, it'll only make things worse. Stay Classy.

"Hair feels thicker, works great, smells nice!" 2009-08-06
By HaSNoLo (CA, USA)

For the past several years I've been noticing that my hair was thinning; I used to have really thick hair. I didn't think much of it until about a year ago when I started to get really self conscious about it and every year I could see more and more of my scalp. It wasn't to the point of being bald and having to use Rogaine but something needed to be done. I found this product and although it seemed expensive I decided to try it out based on the positive reviews. I'm very glad that I did. I've been using it for 4 months now and I can definitely feel a difference and my girlfriend has commented that she can see and feel the difference too. I use it everyday and you don't need to use much for a guy with short hair. As soon as I used it, my hair felt a little different than my standard shampoo and I'd have to say that it took about a couple of months to start to feel and see a significant improvement. The instructions call for one application for about a minute or two and a second application left on for about 3-5 minutes. That's exactly what I do and you feel the difference once you dry your hair. The first application seems to prepare your scalp and the second really foams up with just a tiny bit. One bottle lasts me 2 months using it everyday and following the directions on the bottle. I've read reviews about Rogaine that say it stings and smells bad and you have to use it twice a day and should not skip a day. This shampoo should be used at least 5 times a week and smells great, it's like an apple smell; I don't experience any stinging. My hair seems to also grow faster so I need more frequent hair cuts but that's not something I'm complaining about; it's definitely hair growth stimulating. This is not for someone who is already bald and wants to grow back hair on a bald spot. This is more for someone who has started to see and feel their hair thinning and wants to stop it from getting worse and get some thickness back in their hair. My hair is not what it was 10 years ago but it looks and feels a lot better now and it combs better too. Highly recommended; it's worth the price for me.

 "Excellent product" 2008-09-16
By Wester

First, I will say that I have used more shampoos than I care to count. I have used them all, believe me. Second, I am in my mid 20s and have only noticed a slight receding of the hair line, nothing more. However I have long suffered from generally poor hair: brittle, dry, etc. I have been trying to fight what Ive seen as the inevitable loss of hair figuring the best time to fight it is now before I lose it all.

This is the first product I have ever given a review on and the main reason for doing so is because it is the first that I have been very impressed with. You will notice immediately that it is a very high quality shampoo. I have now used this product for 5 months. Have I experienced hair growth? I don't know actually, but at the very least I am not losing hair in the shower anymore. If it has at least stopped my hair loss then that is good enough for me. What I do know is that my hair has never been healthier and it has never looked as good as it does now. Whereas 5 months ago it was brittle and dry, now it no longer feels like that. At the very least this shampoo will make your hair and scalp healthy, which for me was a noticeable improvement. My mother who hadn't seen me in months even commented on how nice my hair looked.

I will continue to use this product for no other reason than it makes my hair and scalp look and feel better than ever. It may also be fighting hair loss, only time will tell. For the record, I use it as directed (two applications for the maximum time). I also use Billy Jealousy's hair conditioner, although I give little credit to that product for any improvement in my hair as Ive been using that one off and on for a long time.

"Excellent Product & Important Update from Propecia User" 2009-10-24
By shoper1201

I had been using Propecia for two months before trying this product to treat thinning hair and receding hairline (I'm in my mid twenties). At that time, it seemed that my hair loss was slowing down, but I was continuing to lose hair. At that time, I read several books and did extensive research to determine which other products I should use.

Based on my research, I choose Revita and I am very pleased. My hair has grown thicker and my hair stylist actually tried to thin my hair the last time I got a hair cut. Before, you could see my scalp, and now my hair is much thicker. Additionally, my receding hairline seems to have stopped receding. In my experience, the combination of Propecia and revita is an excellent choice. However, I'm not professional and not sure the combination will be effective for everyone, but I do reccomend to all my family and friends with hair loss issues. Additionally, I have long used high end shampoos and conditioners and find Revita to leave my hair very soft and strong. I am thrilled with the product and have had excellent results using Propecia and Revita together. Be sure to use as directed.

"Snake Oil that Actually Works!" 2010-03-22
By Greenband (Plano, TX United States)

I was extremely skeptical about getting results from using this shampoo - essentially it seems like everything rumored to help hair loss was mixed together and thrown into a bottle. There didn't seem to be single ingredient, clinical study that scientifically proved the efficacy of the product.

With a "what the hell" attitude I've tried the product for a few months. If nothing else, people have remarked that it's a good shampoo. As an over 40 male, my hair was getting noticeably thinner but still a relatively full head of hair. After 2 months there is new growth and an increase in thickness - enough so that I think the shampoo is definitely worth the cost and effort. I actually had a co-worker ask me if I got a haircut because my hair looked different somehow.

Side effects - zero, but I typically never have side effects to anything. Looking at other reviews, it seems strange that the results differ so much for individuals.

I've followed the directions - wash about 6 times per week/twice each time (apply/wait 60 seconds/rinse/apply/wait 2-4 minutes/rinse).

My conclusion - if you have light to moderate hair loss it's worth a try.

 "Miracle Product!" 2007-12-14
By Anne (Danville, CA)

I started using Revitalash in July 07. I noticed a difference in 6 weeks. And even more after three months. I had so many lashes that I had to pluck some. When it comes to hair growth you really have to give a product several months to take effect, depending on your body and life-style. Also, using cheap drug store mascaras will make your lashes very dry and fall out. So make sure you use a quality mascara and conditioner. If your going to pay top dollar for this product, don't skimp on the quality of your mascara.

"The new formulation of Revitalash has worked for me!" 2009-06-06
By M. Chana (Tri-Cities, WA USA)

I've seen many reviews of the more expensive eyelash conditioners and stimulators on various websites. One of the more expensive ones even has a 90 day guarantee which made the $140 almost seem worth it. It was very confusing differentiating the reviews from new formulas and old formulas, but in the end I decided, I would at least give the NEW formulation of Revitalash a try first.

I purchased Revitalash exactly 8 weeks ago. The first 2 weeks my eyelashes had darkened some, though my eyelashes were pretty dark to begin with. I also noticed after I put Revitalash on my lashes seemed to curl on their own. By the 4th week I was seeing some improvement on the length. I really noticed it when putting on mascara. By the 7th week, my lashes seemed to have grown overnight! I can actually see my "new" lashes compared to the old ones that haven't cycled out yet, and there is a significant difference.

My reason for using this product was to lengthen and thicken my lashes. At this point if this was all the length I could get I would be happy. Just a tad longer and that would be a bonus! I'm not into the "spider" look some women are going for. Yikes! Also, I haven't really noticed more of a fuller, thicker lash, but as my old lashes keep cycling out that may change. Yea, so don't be suprised if you lose some lashes, new ones are coming in!

I will continue to use the rest of my Revitalash. I may eventually try the other brand, though right now I see no reason to as I am quite satisfied with my results.

If I were going to give anyone some tips about using Revitalash they would be, put it on before bedtime. Apply it as liquid eyeliner, above the lash line, not on the lashes themselves! That is a quick way to get it into your eye, which I've read can cause pressure problems. It also slightly stings, not as bad as soap though. That I know from a one time over zealous application! If applied correctly none of this should be a problem. I would also suggest alternating between starting from the inner corner and outer corner. Also, be patient and make sure you use it EVERY night, not sporadically and I'm sure you will see results too!

 "Revitalash Works Great!" 2008-04-20
By Amie D. (OH)

I've used this product for about 2 months and it really has made my lashes grow longer and thicker. Everywhere I go, people ask if i'm wearing false lashes - that's how good the stuff works. It takes a few months to kick in. I would recommend this to anyone who has the patience to wait for results.

 "It works!!!!" 2008-01-01
By C. Yih (Alamo, CA United States)

I was skeptical after a friend told me about this product but a few months later, I got tired of having to get eyelash extention touch ups and so I gave this product a try. I started to get results just after 2 weeks. I didn't tell my esthetician that I had been using revitalash but she noticed and commented on the length of my lashes. Since then I've purchased this as a christmas present for my sister! It really works!!!!

"Your Secret Formula for Giraffe Lashes!!!" 2008-03-27
By Kristin San Martin (la mesa, ca usa)

I went in to a salon to have eyelash extensions put on my lashes before a big event because I have the shortest, stubbiest eyelashes ever. I would have paid the same price for a temporary fix but the girls at the salon talked me in to trying this. I now have lashes long enough to curl and, with the right mascara, I look just like the models in magazines. Trust me, I am a regular old girl and am writing this from my heart.

This stuff really does work - I even bought it at full price, so seeing it at $89 is a treat for me! Buying more today.

I revieved the cologne a few days after I ordered it. It's the biggest size, 3.4oz for only $16.95 plus shipping. It was in the original box and was sent with the usps in a square box with packing peanuts. My husband loved this cologne!

So I've tried the classic Nautica fragrance a few years back and don't remember being 'too' blown away by it but this stuff is just awesome. It isn't overwhelming and has a light, yet very enjoyable aroma. I seriously leave it in my truck and use it all the time. Maybe that's not good for it but I love using a spray or two before I go wherever I'm headed. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

 "Great" 2008-02-01
By B (Las Vegas, NV)

Like everyone else says, works better than the stock blade it comes with. I reluctantly ordered this blade because it says BG2000, and mine is a BG2020, but the box it comes in says it's compatible with models ranging from BG2020 to 2029, so aside from the weird naming scheme, this thing is great.

The new shaver head is better and stronger than the original. It shaves closer and with less effort. It arrived in just a few days from stock. Thank you very much.

"The Wife Says "Best Ever" For Her...." 2006-07-23

This hair dryer is the third in a series of attempts to find the right hair dryer for my wife, who has long thick hair. The first one was a Vidal Sassoon that had ionic technology, but didn't get near hot enough. She was drying her hair for > 20 minutes.

The second attempt was the Revlon RV469 ceramic, which was much quieter and got hotter, but didn't have much air flow. Also, it is quite heavy. It was better than the first dryer, but not hair drying nirvana.

This dryer (Revlon RV544) has easily cut my wife's drying time in half. She has very thick & long hair, and the high heat setting makes quick work of it. It gets hot enough that I actually tone it down to warm for myself (I have short, thick hair) whenever I have to use the dryer. I think the air flow settings are perfect. The dryer is also nice and light, and fits in a bathroom drawer easily, unlike some of the bulkier models out there.

My wife thinks this is the best dryer she has ever had. We highly recommend it.

I cannot say enough good things about this dryer! It dries incredibly quickly, is the lightest I have ever owned, and is very reasonably priced. I was going to buy the T3 Tourmaline for nearly 10 times the price, until I realized the seller would not honor its warantee on products purchased through Amazon. I have forever retired my previous ceramic dryer, which strained my arm so much, I considered installing a bracket on my body to hold it up. Other small details that make a difference: loop for hanging; buttons well-placed so on/off and cold setting are not hit by accident; comfortable to hold by nozzle instead of handle if desired.

I first reviewed this product in 2006. I don't use it every day, but it's held up for almost four years. I continue to be pleased with it.

 "Light and Effective--Great Buy!" 2007-09-05

I was a skeptic when it came to hairdryers--they all blow air into your hair and it dries, right? Not so! The technology in this hair dryer is tourmaline ionic, meaning it reduces static, frizz, and boosts shine. I had a vidal sassoon before, and a Conair before that, and they were supposedly "ionic" but my hair was still quite a bit frizzy afterwards.

This Revlon is amazing, though--my hair is so straight, sleek, and shiny, without having to apply a bunch of creams or shining sprays. It saves a lot of time! It comes with two attachments (diffuser, concentrator)--I've only used the concentrator to straighten my hair and it takes around six minutes and works effectively.

Also, a HUGE bonus is its lightweight! The comparable Conair version (nearly same price, ionic) is so so much heavier, while this hairdryer is easy to move, so I can pick it up and use it all over my hair.

The only con about this as others have mentioned is that you have to hold it carefully or else your fingers will accidentally turn the hairdryer off--the buttons move easily and are near where you place your fingers to hold it.

Bottom Line: This is the best hairdryer for the price. When I used other hairdryers, my hair is very noticeably frizzier and less shiny compared to this Revlon. It's a reasonable price for the technology, and I definitely recommend it!!

I am a hair stylist and have been for 20 years. I read an article that this dryer compared to the T3 (which is a couple HUNDRED dollars). I figured at this price, how could I not just give it a try. Well... I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dryer! Quiet, light, powerful and dryies my hair FAST. I highly recommend this product!

This is the lightest hair dryer I've owned, about half the weight of my previous model. I heard about this hair dryer on a morning TV news show and it was rated the best even over the $100+ tourmaline dryers, so for $23 I had to try it. It was sold out everywhere I looked...Target, Walmart etc. I finally found it here with a 1-3 week wait and ordered it. It did take about 3 weeks to get but It's so worth it. My hair is dry in almost half the time, the high setting is sooo strong. I highly recommend this especially if you have long thick hair like me that takes forever to dry naturally.
